Cameron Diaz Reflects on a Decade of Personal Growth as She Embarks on a New Chapter in Her Life, Returning to Acting in the Spy Thriller Back in Action
Cameron Diaz’s Return to Acting: A New Chapter in Her Life
Cameron Diaz has spoken about her 10-year retirement from acting, calling it the “best 10 years” of her life. The actress returned to screens this month in a new spy thriller called Back in Action, alongside actor Jamie Foxx.
A Decade of Anonymity and Freedom
During her hiatus, Diaz said she loved the anonymity that came with taking a step back from acting. She was free to focus on being a mom and a wife, and she was grateful for the opportunity to do so. “I was free to be [like] ‘I’m a mum, I’m a wife, I’m living my life’ – it was so lovely,” she explained.

Back in Action
In Back in Action, Diaz and Foxx play a married couple – with children – who are former spies forced out of retirement when danger finds them. The film marks a new chapter in Diaz’s career, and she is excited to be back on the big screen. “Maybe I’ll tip toe in, maybe just go gung-ho, I don’t know,” she said about her approach to acting now.
A New Beginning
It remains to be seen whether this is a permanent return to acting for Diaz, but one thing is certain – she is excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity. As she said, “Ten years in, this made sense for my family.
