U.S. President-elect Donald Trump left his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday to head to Washington D.C. for his inauguration on Monday. Unlike previous presidents-elect, Trump did not travel by private plane or train but instead opted for a government-provided aircraft.
Biden’s Commitment to Tradition
In contrast, outgoing President Joe Biden has emphasized the importance of following traditional transition norms. This approach is a departure from the last presidential transition when Trump refused to acknowledge Biden’s win and even skipped his inauguration.
Trump’s Choice of Aircraft
For his less than three-hour flight to Washington Dulles International Airport, Trump will be flying on a specially configured Boeing 757-200 aircraft. This plane is typically used by high-ranking officials, including the vice president, first lady, cabinet members, and other dignitaries. The aircraft bears the words “United States of America” in blue and white colors.
A Familiar Face
It’s worth noting that Trump has flown on this same model aircraft before – during his 2017 inauguration as President. However, it appears he is opting for a government-provided plane for this occasion rather than his usual private jet, “Trump Force One.
