Academy Award-nominated actress Andie MacDowell has traded in the glamour of Hollywood for a quieter life in South Carolina, where she’s finding happiness and embracing her golden years.
Andie MacDowell Finds Happiness in South Carolina After Leaving Hollywood
Andie MacDowell is happier now than she has been in a long time since leaving the hustle and bustle of Hollywood behind. The 66-year-old actress made the decision to move to South Carolina after her children, including daughters Rainey Qualley and Margaret Qualley, grew up and left home.
MacDowell explained that it took her some time to adjust to her new life in South Carolina, but she is now embracing the change. “I’m happier now than I have been in a long time,” she said in an interview with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I moved to South Carolina and I really am taking good care of myself.”
The actress, who shares three children with her ex-husband Paul Qualley, admitted that leaving her kids was difficult for her. However, she is now finding joy in her new life without the responsibilities of parenthood. “Once my kids left, I felt this huge void in my life because they were so important to me,” MacDowell said. “But now I am – I’m having the time of my life now. It’s really good.”
MacDowell is not only enjoying her new life but also embracing the signs of aging. She has let her hair go gray, which she says has made her feel more powerful and genuine. “As it was growing out, my eyes popped and the color of them looked a little different,” she said in an interview with Katie Couric. “My skin looked better. It empowered me more. I felt more powerful and I felt more myself.”
The actress is still working in the entertainment industry but seems to be thriving outside of Hollywood. Her decision to leave Los Angeles behind joins a long list of stars who have made the same choice, including Ellen DeGeneres.
