A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was seriously injured when she was hit by a vehicle in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was seriously injured when she was hit by a vehicle.
Incident at Retail Park
The incident occurred at a retail park on Wilmslow Road, Cheadle, where the police officer was responding to reports of suspicious behaviour. The officer approached a vehicle in the car park, but it was driven towards her at speed.
Officer’s Injuries and Treatment
The police officer was taken to hospital where she has undergone treatment for her injuries. According to Chief Inspector John Picton, the officer is recovering well and being supported by the Stockport district team.
Response from Police Force
Greater Manchester Police have condemned all assaults on their officers who are working to protect communities from harm. Ch Insp Picton described the incident as “truly shocking” and stated that there was no explanation for why it had escalated in such a way.
