In her latest forecast, Spear said, ‘Snow and ice arrive at some point during the morning commute with a wintry mix and some slick travel through midday.’ The snow and ice will flip to rain during the afternoon, but the changeover might not happen everywhere, according to Spear.

‘It only takes a coating of ice to really mess things up. As long as we get into that milder air, we’ll be in good shape with showers in the afternoon. If this front is a little bit off and we never get that warm air moving into areas north and west of Boston, it could be slick there for travel all day,’ Spear noted.

There will also be a chance for a ‘fast’ weekend storm Saturday night into Sunday morning. ‘I’m not thinking a lot of precipitation over the weekend, but we might need to add another weather alert,’ Spear said.
