ICE partners with Circle to explore innovative tokenized solutions, leveraging stablecoins and tokenization in derivatives exchanges and clearinghouses.
The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is exploring the use of ‘Circle‘s USDC stablecoin and USYC tokenized money market fund‘ to develop new products. This move is part of a larger trend among U.S. financial giants to integrate digital assets, stablecoins, and tokenization into their services as regulatory concerns over the crypto industry subside.
Integration with Derivatives Exchanges and Clearinghouses
According to an agreement announced on Thursday, ICE will look at how ‘Circle’s USDC stablecoin and USYC tokenized money market fund’ can be integrated into derivatives exchanges, clearinghouses, and other services. This integration aims to leverage the stability and trust associated with digital assets and tokenization.
Regulatory Environment and Industry Trends
The move is part of a broader trend of U.S. financial giants pushing into the crypto industry under the Trump administration. Asset manager ‘Fidelity Investments has filed to debut a tokenized money market fund, while derivatives exchange CME Group is testing tokenization with Google Cloud’s private distributed ledger.’

Tokenization is a process used in finance to convert traditional assets into digital tokens, representing their value on a blockchain.
This allows for secure and efficient transfer of ownership.
In tokenization, assets such as real estate, bonds, or stocks are divided into smaller units, making them more accessible to investors.
Tokenized assets can be traded 24/7, increasing liquidity and reducing transaction costs.
Circle‘s Stablecoins and Tokenized Assets
USDC is the second-largest stablecoin, backed by U.S. government securities and cash-equivalent assets, with a $60 billion market capitalization. USYC is a money market fund token issued by Hashnote, which was acquired by Circle earlier this year. These stablecoins and tokenized assets are expected to play a larger role in capital markets as digital currencies become more trusted by market participants.
ICE’s Plans and Expectations
‘We believe Circle’s regulated stablecoins and tokenized digital currencies can play a larger role in capital markets as digital currencies become more trusted by market participants as an acceptable equivalent to the U.S. dollar,’ said Lynn Martin, president of the New York Stock Exchange. ‘We are excited to explore the potential use cases for USDC and USYC across ICE’s markets.’
