The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) has evolved into a premier platform for emerging galleries, adapting its core values while solidifying its position in the art world.
The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) has been a driving force in the art world since its inception in 2002. With its core values remaining unchanged, the organization continues to adapt and grow, solidifying its position as a premier platform for emerging galleries.
From DIY to International Coalition
In the early days, NADA was met with resistance from established players in the industry. Initially, the association approached ‘Tom Blackman, then director of Art Fair Chicago,’ but he was uninterested in pursuing the idea. Undeterred, NADA forged ahead, launching its first fair in Miami in 2003. The event was a success, attracting thirty exhibitors and inspiring two galleries to make the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
A Platform for Growth and Support
Since then, NADA has expanded into an international coalition of over 250 members across continents. The organization prioritizes its role as a platform that supports its members beyond the art fairs with programming throughout the year. This ongoing exchange has inspired initiatives like ‘Villa Warsaw,’ which brought the NADA fair model to the Polish capital at the request of local dealers.
The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes emerging artists and art dealers.
Founded in 2002, NADA has grown to become one of the leading platforms for contemporary art.
The alliance provides resources, networking opportunities, and exhibitions for its members, fostering innovation and growth in the art world.
With over 60 member galleries worldwide, NADA plays a significant role in shaping the future of contemporary art.

A Commitment to Artistic Integrity
One constant in NADA‘s evolution is its dedication to artistic integrity and curatorial focus. The organization continues to highlight the best of contemporary art production through events like the ‘TD Bank Curated Spotlight,’ which returns this year with a focus on galleries and artists from Texas and Mexico.
Artistic integrity refers to an artist's commitment to their creative vision and values.
It involves staying true to one's artistic expression, even in the face of external pressures or expectations.
This concept is crucial for maintaining authenticity and credibility in art.
Artists who prioritize artistic integrity often take risks and push boundaries, resulting in innovative and impactful work.
NADA‘s growth has been steady, but its core values remain unchanged. As executive director Heather Hubbs emphasizes, ‘We’re really interested in our members coming to us and letting us know what they need from us.’ This ongoing exchange is key to NADA‘s success and will continue to drive the organization forward as it explores new initiatives and expands globally.
A Global Network and Emerging Opportunities
NADA has set its sights on becoming even more global, both in terms of attracting collectors from around the world and cultivating a genuinely international network of member galleries. The organization is currently exploring the possibility of expanding into Asia, with talks underway about this exciting development.
As NADA looks to the future, it’s clear that the organization will continue to be a driving force in the art world. With its commitment to collaboration, artistic integrity, and growth, NADA remains an essential platform for emerging galleries and artists alike.
