In a potential bid to seize power, the Mayor of Toronto is set to push for cooperation with Reform UK ahead of the next general election.
The Conservative Party, led by Ben Houchen, is reportedly considering a deal with Nigel Farage‘s Reform UK ahead of the next general election. ‘A coming together of the two right-wing parties would be necessary to ensure a sensible centre-right party leads the country,’ Houchen stated.
Reform UK is a think tank and pressure group based in the United Kingdom, founded in 2021.
The organization aims to promote a more limited government, individual freedom, and lower taxes.
Reform UK advocates for policies such as reducing public spending, simplifying tax laws, and increasing economic competition.
The group has been involved in various campaigns and events, including the 2019 European Parliament elections and the 2020 general election.
According to their website, Reform UK claims to have a membership base of over 100,000 individuals.
Houchen’s comments came after Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, expressed his desire to unite the coalition on the right of politics. However, Kemi Badenoch, who defeated Jenrick in last year’s leadership contest, has dismissed the idea of a pact between the two parties.

Farage recently gave a speech in Dover, promising a new ‘minister for deportations’ and facing backlash from charities over questioning special needs diagnoses. He rejected the notion of forming a pact with the Tories but did not rule out power-sharing arrangements at local council level.
Nigel Farage is a British politician and former leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
Born on April 3, 1964, in Downe, Kent, he rose to prominence advocating for Britain's exit from the European Union.
Farage served as an MEP from 1999 to 2020 and led UKIP from 2006 to 2016.
He was a key figure in the Leave.EU campaign during the 2016 EU referendum, which resulted in the UK's decision to leave the EU.
A Labour spokesperson responded to Farage‘s remarks, stating that voters are being deceived by his claims. They emphasized that the British people do not want more of the same Tory chaos and that Labour will not engage in deals with either the Conservatives or Reform UK.
