Honoring the Spirit of Place
New York City’s rich history, culture, and art scene provide endless inspiration for our design. We’re drawing from the city’s deep roots in art, theater, music, and counterculture to create something that feels like it could only exist in New York. Our goal is to create a boundary-pushing, interactive experience that honors the city’s distinct artistic identity.
Standing Out in a Densely Populated Area
Building an immersive art experience in New York City comes with its own set of challenges. Every square foot has a story, purpose, and price tag, so we’re being intentional with our design and build process. Space is always a factor, but we’re also aware of the logistical considerations of working in such a densely populated area.

Collaborating with Local Artists and Curators
We’re dedicated to discovering artists whose creative brilliance authentically reflects the spirit of their community. We partner with New York-based consultants and welcome local artists and curators to share their portfolios through our public ‘Want to Collaborate’ form for future opportunities.
The Seaport stood out as the perfect match for Meow Wolf due to its rich history, transformation, and gateway for new ideas and cultural shifts. Our goal is to add a layer of magic to the ever-evolving story of the Seaport.
The South Street Seaport is a historic district in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
Established in the early 19th century as a shipping and trading hub, it played a significant role in the city's economic growth.
The area was heavily damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 but has since undergone revitalization efforts.
Today, it features shopping, dining, and cultural attractions, including the Museum of the American Gangster and the Seaport Markets.
Immersive Art in the Age of Digital Reality
We’re living in a time when digital and physical realities are blending more than ever. Social media, gaming, and VR have changed the way people interact with art and storytelling, making immersion the expectation rather than the exception. Meow Wolf creates fully realized worlds with depth, interactivity, and personal agency, setting us apart from other immersive experiences.
A Favorite Art Exhibition
I recently visited Mercer Labs in New York and was absolutely blown away by their exhibition. The ‘Dragon Room’ is a highlight, featuring over half a million individually programmable LED lights to create an immersive, infinite experience. It’s like stepping into another dimension, with a surreal quality that pulls you in and holds you there.
