In 2020, ACC was among 10 meatworks shut out of China during a diplomatic trade war that also impacted wine, barley, and rock lobster producers. The suspension was lifted in 2022, but it took until December 3, 2024, for the remaining two Australian meat processing establishments to regain access.
It will take months to resume trade with China, says ACC chief executive Anthony Lee. He expressed concerns about the global market outlook in 2025, citing a new president in the US as a potential factor.
