Kraven the Hunter, Sony’s latest Marvel villain spin-off, is a messy but entertaining film that stands out from its predecessors in the ongoing saga of Spider-Man antagonists.
The movie follows the origin story of Kraven (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a rich kid named Sergei Kravinoff who grows up to become a powerful hunter. The script jumps back and forth between different timelines, showing Kraven’s childhood, his transformation into a superhuman with animal powers, and his current life as a villain.
The film’s action sequences are well-executed, with great stunts from Taylor-Johnson. A chase scene across London is thrilling and dynamic, showcasing the film’s potential.
While Kraven the Hunter has its moments, it is ultimately a convoluted and messy script that suffers from extraneous characters and nonsensical plot points.
Kraven the Hunter is far superior to Madame Web and Morbius in terms of entertainment value. However, it still falls short of being a truly great film due to its numerous flaws.
