A New Chapter for Art in Austin: The Loren’s Renovated Gallery
The Loren at Lady Bird Lake has taken a significant step forward in its commitment to contemporary art with the relaunch of Paggi House as a standalone gallery. Located just steps away from the hotel, this historic brick home turned art space is now hosting four exhibitions annually, showcasing works by local and international artists.
The Synergy of Art and Architecture
The renovation of Paggi House was a masterstroke, restoring the building to its former glory while incorporating modern elements that enhance its historical significance. The synergy between the old and new is palpable, with the hotel’s contemporary art collection complementing the gallery’s unique character. “It’s brilliant—the synergy of having this historic architectural piece next to this gorgeous modern piece of architecture is like a dream come true,” says Penny Aaron, the curator and art advisor for all Loren properties.
A Commitment to Local Art
Every exhibition in Paggi House has featured at least one local Austin artist, with Aaron emphasizing the importance of showcasing new pieces, artists, and ideas within the space. This commitment to supporting local talent is a testament to The Loren’s dedication to the art community in Austin. “There are a lot of great artists I’ve bought for my other clients that I’ve found in the galleries in Austin,” Aaron notes.
A Shift in Perspective
The relaunch of Paggi House has not only revitalized the gallery but also changed the way The Loren approaches art and its role in the hotel’s dynamic. “What’s happened in Austin has made us look back at Bermuda and how we can be more involved in the art scene in Bermuda,” Aaron says. This newfound perspective will undoubtedly influence The Loren’s future properties, including its upcoming opening in Turks and Caicos.
A Future of Artistic Collaboration
As Paggi House continues to grow as an art exhibition space, it is clear that The Loren is committed to creating a platform for artists to showcase their work. With the success of the gallery already evident, Aaron hopes that Paggi House will eventually become well-known as an art exhibition space, separate from The Loren Austin and known for the caliber of work on display.
The exhibitions in Paggi House are not only a celebration of local and international art but also a testament to The Loren’s commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression. With its unique blend of history and modernity, this gallery is sure to become a hub for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
