Crypto PAC Fairshake makes a surprise comeback in Florida’s special elections, injecting hundreds of thousands of dollars into two key House races. The campaign-financial operation’s influence could be the deciding factor in maintaining the Republican majority.
Crypto PAC Fairshake Takes Aim at Florida Special Elections
The campaign-financial operation that made waves in the 2024 elections is back in action, this time focusing on two special House races in Florida.
Two Republican seats are up for grabs following the vacancies left by Matt Gaetz and Michael Waltz. Crypto’s Fairshake PAC has inserted itself into the mix, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising for its preferred candidates.
The Players
Gaetz was initially chosen by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as U.S. attorney general but stepped down amid a House ethics investigation into his alleged involvement in illicit activities. Trump subsequently nominated Jimmy Patronis as his replacement. Patronis is currently leading the pack of Republican contenders in the January 28 primary, thanks in part to Fairshake’s $200,000 ad spend.
Meanwhile, state Senator Randy Fine is vying for Waltz’s seat. The candidate has received about $500,000 from Fairshake, which also secured Trump’s endorsement. Fine posted on social media that “Floridians want crypto innovation!” earlier this week.
A History of Influence
Fairshake made headlines in 2024 by spending $139 million to support the election of 53 allies into Congress. One in ten lawmakers benefited from their crypto-funded advertising efforts. The PAC still boasts an impressive $103 million war chest, setting it up for a strong presence in the 2026 elections.
“We are keeping our foot on the gas,” said Fairshake spokesman Josh Vlasto.
The special elections in Florida are crucial to maintaining the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. With a slim margin, replacing Gaetz and Waltz is essential to advancing their party’s agenda in Congress.
