Firefighters from the Sergeant Bluff Fire Department and surrounding areas responded to a field fire on Old Lakeport Road, battling flames that spread uncontrollably due to strong winds.
Field Fire in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa
On Saturday afternoon, January 18th, firefighters from the Sergeant Bluff Fire Department and surrounding areas responded to a field fire on Old Lakeport Road.
Cause of the Fire
According to Sgt. Bluff Fire Chief Anthony Gaul, a resident was burning garbage in the area when strong winds caused the flames to spread uncontrollably.
Multi-Agency Response
Crews from Sioux City, Salix, 185th, and Bronson were called to assist in putting out the fire. The Sergeant Bluff Police Department also responded to help control the blaze until around 4:15 p.m.
Fire Size and Aftermath
The field fire covered approximately 28 acres, but fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage as a result of the fire.
