School Districts in South Texas Close Due to Arctic Front

As an arctic front approaches South Texas, several school districts have announced closures for Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service Corpus Christi, a winter storm warning has been issued for all of South Texas except the barrier islands from Monday night into Tuesday.

The weather service forecasts a low of 29 degrees on Monday night with a 90% chance of precipitation. Less than 0.1 inch of ice accumulation is possible. On Tuesday, a high near 37 and a low around 22 are expected, with wind gusts as high as 21 mph.

School District Closures

• West Oso ISD: All campuses and offices will be closed on Tuesday, along with all athletic activities.

• Agua Dulce ISD: Schools will have a 10 a.m. late start on Monday but will be closed on Tuesday.

• Banquete ISD: All schools will be closed on Tuesday.

• Bishop CISD: School is canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Driscoll ISD: The district will be closed on Tuesday and will have a late start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

• Robstown ISD: All schools will be closed on Tuesday, with all extracurricular activities also canceled.

School Districts Monitoring Weather Conditions

• Corpus Christi ISD: Not announced closures as of Sunday but is monitoring weather conditions for possible closures.

• Calallen ISD: No announcement of closures has been made as of Sunday.

• Flour Bluff ISD: The district is monitoring weather conditions for possible closures.

• Tuloso-Midway ISD: The district expects to announce possible school closures or delayed starts by early afternoon on Monday.

• London ISD: No announcement of closures has been made as of Sunday.

• Gregory-Portland ISD: The district is monitoring weather conditions.

• Del Mar College: Plans may change as the college monitors weather conditions.
